In the exuberant ROCCO, the Kasser Theater becomes a boxing ring, and every seat is ringside. Dancers challenge each other with punches and strikes, fast footwork and ingenious tactics in this high-stakes match. Inspired by the classic Italian film, Rocco & His Brothers, ROCCO depicts brotherly love and the struggle for a better life with dazzling physical virtuosity.
65 minutes, no intermission. All seating is general admission, onstage. No late seating "ringside" - latecomers may be seated at the discretion of management in the Kasser Theater balcony.
Charter bus service available from Manhattan for all Saturday & Sunday performances. Contact the box office at 973-655-5112 for more information.
Dr. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair, MSU) moderates a discussion with Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten about the relationship between Luchino Visconti’s operatic 1960’s film Rocco and His Brothers and their intensely physical choreography for ROCCO, which takes both thematic and aesthetic inspiration from the film.
