Experience Josephine Baker’s "La Revue Nègre" in Jérôme Savary’s music theater extravaganza direct from the capitals of Europe. When Josephine Baker found fame in Paris by performing her scandalous "La Revue Nègre", she raised eyebrows as well as passions.
Savary begins his show in a New Orleans devastated by Katrina as a French producer searches for the perfect Josephine with whom to re-create the legendary revue. As the auditions roll out, Savary conjures the history of black music in America’s South as a counterpoint to Baker’s story of racial conflict. Once the perfect Josephine is cast, "La Revue Nègre" is staged as a spectacular event starring Nicolle Rochelle, a Montclair, New Jersey native! From the show’s divine master of ceremonies to the brilliant tap dancers, to a poignant blues songs to the Bourbon Street band; Looking for Josephine is an incomparable event!
“A splashy musical revue playing to sold-out audiences at the 1000-seat Opéra Comique (Paris).” – The New York Times
“A show as committed as it is entertaining…Contagious!” – El País (Spain)
