Montclair State University is located on Valley Road and Normal Avenue in Montclair, NJ. The University’s main entrance is on Normal Avenue.
GPS Directions
If you are utilizing GPS to visit us, please use the following information when entering directions into your GPS: Enter 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ, or Red Hawk Parking Garage. This will take you to the entrance of the campus. Turn right off of Normal Ave. on to campus, the Kasser Theater and Red Hawk parking deck will be directly in front of you.
From Points North
Take Garden State Parkway to Route 46 West (exit 154). Exit onto Valley Road (South) toward Montclair.*
From Points South
Take Garden State Parkway to Route 3 West (exit 153B). Exit onto Valley Road (South) toward Montclair.*
From Midtown Manhattan
Take Lincoln Tunnel to Route 3 West for approximately 10.5 miles. Route 3 will merge to Route 46—stay right. Take first exit immediately after the merge, onto Valley Road (South), toward Montclair.*
From Upper Manhattan
Take the George Washington Bridge to Route 80 West. Take Exit 62 to merge onto the Garden State Parkway South. Take Exit 154 for Route 46 toward Clifton. Exit onto Valley Road toward Paterson/Montclair. Make a right and prepare to make an immediate left onto Valley Road (south).
*Due to construction, the traffic light on Route 46 and Valley Road is currently a four-way roundabout. Take the roundabout to the 3rd exit onto Valley Road. Once on Valley Road (south), stay on Valley Road for one mile. *Once on Valley Road (south) – Stay on Valley Road for one mile to the first traffic light. Turn right onto Normal Avenue. Then make another right into the main entrance of the campus. The Alexander Kasser Theater will be directly in front of you. Convenient parking is available at the Red Hawk Parking Deck adjacent to the theater.

Public Transportation
Weekday performances:
NJ Transit Railroad (Boonton/Montclair line) is the best method of public transportation. The Montclair Heights Station is the nearest stop and is a five-minute walk from the Alexander Kasser Theater. Travel time from New York Penn Station to Montclair Heights is approximately 50 minutes. The last pre-show train, #6279, departs Penn Station at 6:10pm and arrives at Montclair Heights at 7:00pm.
The Montclair Heights Station (Boonton/Montclair line) makes return trips to New York Penn Station every hour with the last trains departing at 10:29PM and 11:17PM, and travel time at approximately 50 minutes. Train schedules can be found at

The Montclair Heights train station is two blocks and a 5min walk to the Alexander Kasser Theater. The Montclair State University train station is on the other side of campus and a 20min walk to the Kasser.
Saturday and Sunday
No weekend NJ Transit train service to Montclair Heights.
NJ Transit Bus line #28 stops in front of the Alexander Kasser Theater (this is the Montclair State University stop). Go to njtransit.com or call NJ Transit at 973-275-5555 for schedules and more information.
Parking
All patron parking is in the Red Hawk Deck, directly adjacent to the Alexander Kasser Theater. Once parked, take the elevator or stairs to the 4th floor to access the theater. For events in the Alexander Kasser Theater, parking vouchers will be on sale in the lobby, pre-show. Parking fees may also be paid at the kiosk machines located on levels 2,4 and 5 of the Red Hawk Parking Deck or the pay stations as you exit the garage.
The Red Hawk Parking Deck hourly rates are as follows:
0-30 minutes: FREE
31-60 minutes: $2
1-2 hours: $4
2-6 hours: $8

Memorial Auditorium and L. Howard Fox Theatre
Certain productions presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance may take place at different venues on campus. If you are purchasing tickets for a Memorial Auditorium, Fox Theatre or Life Hall Studio Theatre event, please remember to pick up your tickets at the Memorial Auditorium Box Office, not the Alexander Kasser Theater Box Office.
