Montclair State University is located on Valley Rd. and Normal Ave. in Montclair, NJ. The University’s main entrance is on Normal Avenue.
Below you will find directions to the Kasser Theater from all points by car and by public transportation. If you are utilizing GPS to visit us, please use the following information when entering directions into your GPS: Enter 22 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07043. This will take you to the entrance of the campus. Turn right off of Normal Ave. on to campus, the Kasser Theater and Red Hawk parking deck will be directly in front of you.
From Points North
Take Garden State Parkway to Route 46 West (exit 154). Exit onto Valley Road (South) toward Montclair.*
From Points South
Take Garden State Parkway to Route 3 West (exit 153B). Exit onto Valley Road (South) toward Montclair.*
From Midtown Manhattan
Take Lincoln Tunnel to Route 3 West for approximately 10.5 miles. Route 3 will merge to Route 46—stay right. Take first exit immediately after the merge, onto Valley Road (South), toward Montclair.*
From Upper Manhattan
Take the George Washington Bridge to Route 80 West. Take Exit 62 to merge onto the Garden State Parkway South. Take Exit 154 for Route 46 toward Clifton. Exit onto Valley Road toward Paterson/Montclair. Make a right and prepare to make an immediate left onto Valley Road (south).*
*Once on Valley Road (south) – Stay on Valley Road for one mile to the first traffic light. Turn right onto Normal Avenue. Then make another right into the main entrance of the campus. The Alexander Kasser Theater will be directly in front of you. Convenient parking is available at the Red Hawk Parking Deck adjacent to the theater.

Saturday Charter Bus Service from Port Authority NYC
Charter bus service is provided for the fee of $15 per person (roundtrip) from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to the Alexander Kasser Theater for select performances on Saturday evenings. The DeCamp charter bus can be found outside the Port Authority Terminal on the 41st Street “arcade” (covered street) between 8th and 9th Avenues (see map below). Please purchase bus tickets online when buying show seats, or call the box office at 973-655-5112. Bus departs 6:30pm. Return bus departs 15 minutes after conclusion of performance or First Impressions talkback. Subject to availability.
Thursday or Friday performances:
NJ Transit Railroad (Boonton/Montclair line) is the best method of public transportation. The Montclair Heights Station is the nearest stop and is a five-minute walk from the Alexander Kasser Theater. Travel time from New York Penn Station to Montclair Heights is approximately 50 minutes. Ushers will greet Train #6279, departing Penn Station at 6:10pm, arriving at Montclair Heights at 7:00pm and escort patrons to the Alexander Kasser Theater.
DeCamp bus also travels to and picks up from the Alexander Kasser Theater (weekdays only). For schedule and fare information visit decamp.com and look for buses marked MU on the 66 bus schedule. Must purchase ticket in advance at Port Authority for travel from Port Authority to Montclair State University; can provide ticket or pay cash for the return trip.
Saturday and Sunday
No weekend NJ Transit train service to Montclair Heights.
NJ Transit Bus lines 28, 191, and 705 stop in front of the Alexander Kasser Theater (this is the Montclair State University stop). Go to www.njtransit.com or call NJ Transit at 973-275-5555 for schedules and more information.
DeCamp bus (66 ) travels to and from the corner of Mt. Hebron and Valley Roads which is approximately a 15-minute walk to the Alexander Kasser Theater on the Montclair State University campus. For schedule and fare information visit decamp.com and look for buses marked 66 on the bus schedule. Must purchase ticket in advance at Port Authority for travel from Port Authority to Montclair State University; can provide ticket or pay cash for the return trip. Upon boarding the bus at Port Authority, Peak Performances recommends telling the driver you would like to get off at the closest stop to Montclair State, a church at the corner of Mt. Hebron and Valley Roads. Turn right on Valley Rd. past the church and cemetery on the right. Turn left at the next light onto Normal Avenue. After 250 feet, the Montclair State campus main entrance is on your right and the Alexander Kasser Theater is straight ahead. Return buses pick up from Valley Rd. and Nassau Place (1 block down from where they drop off). Peak Performances recommends arriving at the bus stop at Valley Rd. and Nassau Place five to ten minutes in advance of the scheduled pickup time; buses do not wait before departing. Please phone the box office at 973-655-5112 to request an usher to greet the last bus that arrives prior to curtain to escort patrons to the theater.
All patron parking is in the Red Hawk Deck, directly adjacent to the Alexander Kasser Theater. Once parked exit the Red Hawk Deck from the 4th floor to access the theater.
Save time! For all events, convenient and easy-to-use parking vouchers are available for sale in the lobby of the Alexander Kasser Theater starting one hour before each performance, and during intermission. For events without intermissions, vouchers will be available for sale after the performance as well.
All vouchers are $6.00 (cash only).

Memorial Auditorium and L. Howard Fox Theatre
Certain productions presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance may take place at different venues on campus. If you are purchasing tickets for a Memorial Auditorium or Fox Theatre event, please remember to pick up your tickets at the Alexander Kasser Theater Box Office before proceeding to either venue. Concessions at the Alexander Kasser Theater is open one hour prior to curtain and during intermission for all performances. Café Diem and the Red Hawk Diner are conveniently located within walking distance of the Alexander Kasser Theater and are open pre-show.
